Our story
College SA is a registered and fully accredited South African private college that provides occupational education and skills training for adult learners and organisations. Our journey began in 1996 with the start of Media Works, which went on to become the market leaders in Adult Education and Training (AET, previously ABET). Following the acquisition of Media Works by the Optimi Group in 2018, we expanded our range of products to include College SA (2007), IT Academy (2008), and Matric Works (2017). We subsequently combined our consumer-facing division (Optimi College) and business-facing division (Optimi Workplace) to provide a single platform: College SA.
Today, College SA offers a wide range of affordable and user-friendly occupational education and training solutions, helping thousands of learners achieve their educational goals.
Our products
College SA is a leading provider of occupational education and skills training for adult learners and organisations in South Africa.
Our products include accredited qualifications (occupational certificates, learnerships, and AET courses), industry certifications (CIMA, NEBOSH, CompTIA, PMI, etc.), and adult short courses. We are a licensed Skillsoft distributor in Southern Africa, giving our learners access to globally recognised certifications (Microsoft, AWS, Oracle, etc.).
We partner with organisations to provide world-class learning solutions, including facilitator-led workforce training, skills development consulting and sponsored community education programmes.
Our courses are aligned with the relevant South African regulatory frameworks (DHET, QCTO, SETAs), delivered using distance, online, or on-site learning options.
Our impact
Since 1996, College SA has completed more than 30 000 learning engagements, assisted more than 6 000 corporate and public sector clients per year, and worked with more than 300 trained facilitators, assessors, and moderators across South Africa. We offer more than 200 courses and assist more than 6 000 adult learners per year to obtain practical skills, improve their employability, and drive entrepreneurship.
We also improve education access for more than 8 500 learners in disadvantaged communities across South Africa by providing free additional mathematics and science classes, sponsored by businesses who – like us – care deeply about education.
Nelson Mandela said that education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world. We strongly agree, and that’s why we are committed to helping more people achieve their learning goals. Together, we can make the world a better place through education.
